Hurricane Ruby Zoolander

I don't know if Ruby is a boy or a girl, but it doesn't matter. Ruby is a dwarf hamster that has an equilibrium problem and s/he cannot turn left! So Petco gave me a discount and I have an adorable little pet that has alot of personality! Ruby loves to run "around" and model. It's very hard to take pictures of such a small animal but I think that I've got some great pictures (plus learning how to use PhotoShop helps).

Here are some of the Adventures of Ruby:

10/16/02 - I love to bring Ruby everywhere with me since she's so tiny. Today I put her on the dashboard while I was driving  and she fell off while I was turning left. I felt so bad, but she was okay and I do not recommend doing that to your hamster! In the afternoon Jason and I brought Ruby to Marymoore Park to let her run around. Mostly she walks around in counter-clockwise circles and sniffs the ground. I kept a close eye on her because I could here birds nearby that might have wanted to eat her. That night I let her out to investigate Jason's computer room. A friend called and I forgot that Ruby was running around. She had lots of places to hide: behind 3 huge computer desks, a TV, a closet, the darkroom... but she was in the next room running in circles in the middle of the room.

Last weekend we went to Jason's parents house and I thought that I could get some cute pictures of Ruby in the garden. She stayed close to me at first like the gerbils do, but she is not scared of being out in the open. I totally forgot that Gail has found molted snake skins in her flower bed. Ruby was walking underneath some 'love lies bleeding' when she walked right into a garden snake! I didn't even see it until it ran away from her. Ruby seemed to sniff it but just kept walking like nothing happened. Jason thinks that Ruby might be blind, but how do you test for something like that?

There are moths in my hamster food, I was trying to save money on food, but it's not worth it. I gave one to Ruby to see what she'd do. She was sitting in my hand when I gave it to her and she grabbed it and ate everything except the head and wings of the moth. The moth was still moving it's wings and legs so I gave the rest of it to the gerbils (that I used to have).
